Feels Like We Only Go Backwards by Tame Impala

Feels Like We Only Go Backwards comes to us off of Tame Impala’s 2012 release Lonerism. The group from Perth, Australia is really living up to their psychedelic rock categorization with this song. With esoteric organ and vocal timbre, Feels Like We Only Go Backwards captures the essence of psychedelic music in an uncanny way; something rarely experienced since 1969. This track sounds like it would be home with the UK hippie scene alongside Donovan and the later era Beatles. The slow groove of the bass holds together all of the airy vocal harmonies and wah-infused guitar sounds, keeping the track moving at a steady pace. What really sets this track apart is the way that vocalist Kevin Parker channels the spirit of John Lennon, causing the listener to have a double take. A truly incredible piece of psychedelic rock that keeps things simple and doesn’t go overboard. A must have for any fan of the flower generation of music.

Lonerism is available on iTunes.
